Maritime Police Command Bids Farewell to AIG Garba After Transformative Tenure
Assistant Inspector-General of Po
lice (AIG) Musa Yusuf Garba has concluded his tenure as the 22nd commander of the Maritime Police Command following his redeployment to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex in Kaduna.
Garba’s leadership, characterized by comprehensive reforms and personnel-centered policies, has earned widespread recognition within the Maritime Police Command, with officers describing his approach as exemplary during his time at the helm.
The Maritime Police Command officially acknowledged Garba’s contributions in a farewell statement issued by Public Relations Officer ASP Adebayo Rasheed, highlighting the outgoing commander’s visionary leadership and operational improvements.
During his tenure, AIG Garba introduced several groundbreaking initiatives that enhanced both operational efficiency and staff morale. Most notably, he established the Command’s first-ever celebration honoring retiring officers and newly promoted personnel—a move that underscored his commitment to inclusive leadership and staff welfare.
The outgoing commander also addressed critical structural deficiencies within various departments, strengthening the Command’s operational framework and improving command and control mechanisms across the unit.
“AIG Musa Yusuf Garba is a leader whose wealth of experience and humane approach to leadership have left the Maritime Police Command better positioned to fulfill its mandate,” the official statement read.
The Maritime Police Command expressed confidence that Garba will continue to excel in his new role at the FCID Annex in Kaduna, building on the leadership principles that defined his successful tenure with the maritime unit.
His departure marks the end of what many within the Command consider a transformative period that has repositioned the unit for enhanced operational effectiveness and improved personnel welfare standards.
