The National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA) has expressed its commitment to partnering with the Federal Government, as it seeks a strategic alliance with the Ministry of Interior to further boost Nigeria’s travel and tourism sector.
The pledge was made during a courtesy visit by NANTA’s leadership to the Honourable Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on Thursday, July 3, 2025, in Abuja.
Welcoming the delegation, Dr. Tunji-Ojo applauded the association’s outreach and stressed the importance of engaging stakeholders in policy formulation and national development. “Every effective leadership is anchored on listening to stakeholders and incorporating their feedback,” he said, affirming the Ministry’s openness to working with credible and forward-thinking institutions.
Leading the delegation, NANTA President, Mr. Yinka Folami, commended the Minister’s proactive leadership style and swift approval of the meeting request. He described NANTA as a proudly Nigerian association with a 50-year legacy and a strong presence across Africa, Europe, the United Kingdom, America, and other parts of the world.
“Your timely response to our request for this engagement is a reflection of your results-driven approach,” Folami remarked. He highlighted NANTA’s ongoing contributions to national development through tourism promotion, travel facilitation, and global collaboration.
Responding, Dr. Tunji-Ojo reiterated the Federal Government’s commitment to partnering with structured and transparent organizations like NANTA. He praised Nigerians for their resilience, hospitality, and creative energy, describing them as among the most productive people globally.
Speaking on immigration and diplomatic matters, the Minister emphasized that Nigeria’s visa policies are rooted in reciprocity but guided by principles of fairness and mutual respect. He encouraged NANTA and Nigerians in general to promote a positive narrative about the country, stating, “Nigeria will rise again.”
In appreciation of the engagement, NANTA presented a commemorative plaque to the Minister, acknowledging his visionary leadership and reaffirming the association’s willingness to collaborate for national progress. Dr. Tunji-Ojo, in turn, assured the delegation of the Ministry’s readiness to establish a sustainable engagement platform with NANTA and explore partnership opportunities in support of the national interest.
