Rivers’ Senator Mpigi Barinada, Lawmaker and Forum Secretary, Is Dead
The Nigerian Southern Senators Forum announced Friday the death of its General Secretary, Senator Mpigi Barinada, who represented Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the current Senate.
In a statement signed by Forum Chairman Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, members described the loss as painful and irreplaceable. “His death is a profound loss to the Senate, Rivers State, and Nigeria as a whole,” the statement read.
Barinada served in the House of Representatives before his election to the Senate, building a reputation across both chambers as a consistent advocate for his constituents. As General Secretary of the Southern Senators Forum, he was credited with coordinating the body’s activities and strengthening collaboration among senators from the region. Colleagues remembered him as calm, humble, and deeply committed to grassroots development.
The Forum extended condolences to his family, the people of Rivers South-East, and the Government and people of Rivers State.
