WABOTAN Congratulates Oluwadamilola Emmanuel on His Appointment as Special Adviser on Blue Economy

Lagos, Nigeria – The Waterfront Boat Owners and Transporters Association of Nigeria (WABOTAN) has extended warm congratulations to Mr. Oluwadamilola Emmanuel following his appointment as Special Adviser on Blue Economy to the Executive Governor of Lagos State. His Excellency Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Mr. Emmanuel, who also serve as the General Manager of the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA), has been recognized for his exemplary leadership and commitment to transforming water transportation in Lagos State.

Talking to the press after its exco meeting on Tuesday, the National President of WABOTAN, Mr. Babatope Fajemirokun, described the appointment as well-deserved and a testament to Emmanuel’s dedication to the development of the state’s maritime sector.

“We are delighted to congratulate Mr. Oluwadamilola Emmanuel on this significant appointment,” Fajemirokun said. “His tenure at LASWA was marked by progressive policies, improved safety standards, and a genuine commitment to the welfare of waterways stakeholders. We have no doubt that he will bring the same energy and vision to his new role as Special Adviser on Blue Economy.”

The WABOTAN President noted that Emmanuel’s deep understanding of waterways operations and his collaborative approach with stakeholders positioned him as an ideal choice for the strategic role of advancing Lagos State’s blue economy agenda.

WABOTAN expressed optimism that Emmanuel’s appointment would lead to enhanced policies that support sustainable water transportation, boost economic activities along the waterways, and create more opportunities for boat operators and transporters across the state.

The association called on all its members and stakeholders in the maritime sector to extend their full support to the new Special Adviser as he takes on this expanded responsibility in shaping Lagos State’s blue economy vision.

The blue economy encompasses sustainable use of ocean and waterways resources for economic growth, improved livelihoods, and ecosystem health, areas where Lagos State, with its extensive coastline and inland waterways, holds significant potential.
