NPA Boss Reconstitutes Anti-Corruption and Transparency Committee

Lagos – The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho, has reconstituted the agency’s Anti-Corruption and Transparency Committee as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen institutional integrity and enhance operational transparency within Nigeria’s maritime sector.

The development represents a continuation of Dr. Dantsoho’s reform agenda since assuming leadership of the apex maritime agency. The NPA chief has consistently emphasized transparency and accountability as cornerstone principles driving the Authority’s operations and strategic initiatives.

Under Dantsoho’s stewardship, the NPA has demonstrated remarkable financial transparency, with the organization earning commendation from the National Assembly for its audit compliance and transparent practices. The Authority’s revenue profile has shown unprecedented growth, surging from N424.2 billion in 2023 to N893.6 billion in 2024 – representing a 111 percent increase that has exceeded projections.

The reconstitution of the Anti-Corruption and Transparency Committee aligns with the federal government’s broader anti-corruption drive and the NPA’s commitment to maintaining the highest standards of corporate governance. The committee is expected to oversee compliance with anti-corruption policies, monitor transparency in port operations, and ensure adherence to ethical standards across all NPA activities.

Industry stakeholders have welcomed the move as a positive step toward consolidating the gains made in port efficiency and revenue generation. The initiative is also seen as crucial for sustaining investor confidence in Nigeria’s maritime sector and supporting the country’s export performance.

The NPA’s focus on transparency and anti-corruption measures comes at a time when the Authority is experiencing record export growth and implementing sustainability initiatives to maintain its upward trajectory in port operations and revenue generation.
